Housing Delivery Test will lead to “more of the same.”
Responding to MHCLG's Housing Delivery Test for Local Authorities, Michael Voges, Executive Director of ARCO said:
“Under the latest Housing Delivery Test it is possible for a local authority to pass without building a single unit of specialist housing for older people”
“The UK is already far behind comparable countries in the level of housing with care provision for older people – with about a tenth of the provision available in New Zealand, Australia or the US.”
“With the number of over 75s set to double in the next thirty years the UK cannot afford to ignore the rising demand for the right kind of housing.”
“Sadly this test will just encourage Local Authorities to settle for more of the same.”
